To Hell with Peace of Mind

You don't know what you've got

When you've found peace of mind

No unpaid bills, no due loans

Not even forgotten subscriptions

Isn't this life plain bliss

When you don't have to sigh or hiss

About school fees and car repairs

And rents or partner dramas

You don't know what you've got

When you don't have to flee temptations

Or be primed for examinations.

But without its ups and downs

Life is simply drab, plain and cheerless

Without our bickering friends

And that little pinch of anxiety that wakes us up on Mondays

Without the pesky noise from our neighbours'

And the little respite we spend on alcohol on Fridays

Our lives will become lifeless

Without all its complications of unpaid bills and tiffs.
