Muse, My Muse

Image
Tonight I will be that which you need I will fold the miles into my palms And bend the time I will be by your side To tell you, your life is great I will be your muse Your witch, your lawyer I will be your doctor, your vampire I will lay my shoulder by you Come, lay your head on mine You can sleep, or just lay Be still, stay for tonight is given Even if tomorrow is not promised Smell my hair without despair We are only two hearts beating in harmony Making silent music eternally Just us, you, I and our hearts singing Singing songs not forgotten or remembered Knowing that as these two hearts beat They beat for each other alone Even if no one hears. Thanks for the review Yinka

I Will Not Wake Up

Image
I will not wake up in the morning I shall not rise with the smiling sun My bed shall remain dark till I die in this sleep I will not wake up to find you gone I shall not hear our neighbors gossip How you ran away wearing no shoes Riding our only horse I will not wake up, my love

The Rain and My Other Cheek

Image
This morning I woke up To the clatter of rain fingers on my roof As the morning gets slowly darker The arms of rainfall stealthily dip Through my open windows To pat me on my right cheek, awoke I turned the other cheek, and Welcomed the cool atlantic breeze That brought the rains and The sour-sweet petrichor My neighbours scurried to close their windows But I simply turned again the other cheek.

My Morning Refused to Start

Image
This morning everything stopped All things My world paused not for a minute But forever The traffic light somewhere inside my eyes turned red As the shadows of your absence overwhelms me And your silent voice deafens me Writhing in my marrows are the leftover wisps Of the moments we never had The ghost of the love we snuffed Has finally caught up with me Dealing me ghastly blows With the fervor of a nemesis Killing my morning, suffocating my afternoon And murdering my nights And here I lay victimized With a morning that refused to start without you

I Have Missed Her

Image
Soft, romantic, hilly, curvy and voluptuous She stretched her arms to welcome me I have missed her, I didn't say We both in silence embraced I melted into her body and disappeared I inhaled her, she smelled old, older than the last time The fingers of time have not left her without marks Just as it has done me But she is still big and beautiful And I love her so The city of my childhood Of seas of whites Micras swaying along undulating roads And endless fields of brown roofs  shining under the noon sun The old landscape steadily cuddles the new in rhyme As I absorb the changing views and sounds of the time Watching the young twerking to the songs on their phone While the old awaits the weekend parties to do same.

The Smiles I Smiled

Image
As night falls The memories of your cheeky smiles And the smiles I smiled in return Come slowly to roost On the Artery of my soul And on my sleeping eyes A constant smile lies awake Leading me through dreamland Unto the shining brightness of a new dawn When once again The little fingers of the rising sun Caresses my skin to the reality Of the shadows of your absence And the echoes of your silence

Good Morning Abeokuta

Image
The various notes of early birds Their different tones Makes the melodious music That slowly takes me out of my strange bed I, a stranger in this rocky town Alone and unknown I took a stance on one of the ancient rocks And then clandestinely Wake, one by one, the sleepy inhabitants With the click-click sound of my camera. Good morning Abeokuta.
